INTRODUCTION

The University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus is currently searching for candidates to teach courses related to theriogenology and veterinary sciences.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

DVM, PHD or DVM, MS; (Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology). Candidates must have extensive knowledge in theriogenology and the ability to work in a team. Candidates will need to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills as well as have proficiency in the Spanish and English language. Provide a record of scientific research publications which are indicative of the candidate's potential to establish and maintain a productive research program. Candidates must teach various courses in the Department of Animal Science related to their area of expertise.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES

The University of Puerto Rico – Mayagüez Campus, Department of Animal Science is seeking candidates for a position of Assistant/Associate Professor with a specialty in Theriogenology and Reproductive Biology. The appointment is 9 months/year; 25% research and 75% teaching.

The candidate will teach courses related to the theory and procedures in the manipulation of gametes, in-vitro fertilization and frozen embryos; surgical procedures for embryo recovery, biosecurity and the "One Health" concept. The candidate is also expected to perform research tasks in gamete and embryo manipulation.

The selected person will contribute to the growth and development of research and teaching in their area of expertise. Research programs should address issues of relevance to the local and international animal industry including the dissemination of information to farmers and industry professionals. The candidate is expected to collaborate with colleagues on and off Campus, as well as industry leaders, and foster a positive and highly productive work environment. The candidate will also advise undergraduate and graduate students.
