About This Role:
The Agronomy Department at Kansas State University is looking for an Assistant Scientist to work at the Agronomy North Farm in Manhattan, KS. The Agronomy North Farm provides areas for research, teaching and extension activities as well as the production of Foundation class seed. This position is an integral part of the farm team and as such is responsible for carrying out many of the day to day activities including but not limited to: operating equipment to till, plant, fertilize, apply pesticides and harvest; producing Foundation class seed; interacting with faculty, research staff, graduate students and undergraduate students to facilitate their research activities; and maintaining farm facilities and equipment. Supervision of hourly student workers is required.

What You'll Need to Succeed:
• B.S. in Agronomy or closely related field.
• Experience in farm practices, including tillage, planting, spraying and harvesting.
• Substantial experience in the operation, adjustment and maintenance of farm equipment.
• Experience in research activities including plot layout, planting, data collection and harvesting of plots.
• Must be able to obtain upon employment Kansas Commercial Drivers License (CDL), Class A
• Must be able to obtain upon employment Kansas Commercial Pesticide Applicators License (Class 1A, 10)
