Assistant Softball Coach

South Dakota State University is an NCAA Division I institution located in Brookings, South Dakota. SDSU competes in The Summit League for all sports except Football (Missouri Valley Football Conference), Wrestling (Big 12 Conference), and Equestrian (National Collegiate Equestrian Association).

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will assist the Head Softball Coach and other staff in maintaining a successful NCAA Division I softball program, while assisting the athletic department in achieving the goals for student-athlete development. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: recruitment of student-athletes; development of the team/players by coaching (emphasis with infield/outfield development); build positive social skills; assist with camps/clinics; administrative duties; and perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Earned Bachelor’s degree by date of application;

At least one year of collegiate softball coaching experience;

Proven career path;

Commitment to promote an atmosphere of compliance to institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations;

Effective communication (oral, written and interpersonal) skills;

Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Earned Master’s degree;

Division I collegiate coaching experience;

Infield and outfield player development experience (emphasis with infield/outfield/catcher/pitcher defensive development);

Demonstrated ability to recruit student-athletes;

Understanding of NCAA Division I rules and regulations;

Demonstrated camp/clinic experience;

Experience with administrative duties to include: travel, scheduling, equipment/apparel, and academics.

SALARY: Contingent upon education and experience.
