Associate Dean for Agricultural Research
To administer the conduct of scientific research in defined discipline areas congruent with the Departments of Agribusiness, Applied Economics and Agriscience Education, Animal Sciences, Family and Consumer Sciences, and Natural Resources and Environmental Design as well as the college-level centers.

The College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences is one of eight schools/colleges at North Carolina A&T State University. The mission of the College is to provide opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds to achieve excellence in the food, agricultural, family, and environmental sciences through exemplary and integrative instruction, and through scholarly, creative, and effective research and Extension programs. An advanced degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in the agricultural, family, and environmental sciences or related academic discipline; at least four years of exceptional leadership and management experience; a distinguished record of scholarly accomplishments in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment; demonstrated successful administrative experience in a land grant university, preferably with a research organization, and familiarity with the needs of farming and under-resourced communities. The candidate is also expected to have:

  • A record of success at a level that is tenurable in an academic unit at a land grant institution.
  • Demonstrated successful experience developing and managing large budgets including blended funding streams and entrepreneurial funding sources
  • Demonstrated successful experience in working with governmental and legislative leadership in the development of funding proposals
  • A proven record of accomplishments as an educational leader, scholar, and administrator including a successful record of leading people, leading change, building teams and coalitions, and building consensus
  • Demonstrated excellence in working with boards and constituency groups
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate a clear vision, motivate others to join in the vision, and lead in the planning and execution of the steps required to achieve the vision.
