California State University System Office
Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Success & Inclusive Excellence
Assistant Vice Chancellor for Strategic Partnerships & Student Success Initiatives
The California State University System Office seeks two experienced, innovative and collaborative professionals who will serve as key leaders in building robust and successful student and academic success programs in the following roles:
Under the direction of the Executive Vice Chancellor (EVC) - Academic and Student Affairs, the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Success & Inclusive Excellence provides vision, thought leadership, strategies and solutions to advance student success, equity, and inclusive excellence across the CSU. The AVC provides expert advice to the CSU Chancellor, the Board of Trustees, and campus leaders in fostering a culture of student success and equity with an intentional focus on better supporting underserved student populations across the CSU. The AVC also represents the Chancellor of the California State University at the Academic Senate of the California State University (ASCSU) and serves as the primary liaison between the Division of Academic and Student Affairs and ASCSU. Through the work with the ASCSU, this position also supports the EVC in building and maintaining relationships with the CSU faculty.
Under the direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Success & Inclusive Excellence, the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Strategic Partnerships & Student Success Initiatives will contribute to the development of system-wide policies and initiatives that advance and promote student success and inclusive excellence. The AVC will foster equity, access and inclusion. In order to enhance support for the CSU and campus priorities, the AVC will establish strategic partnerships with public and private educational, advocacy and philanthropic organizations. The AVC will lead system-wide strategic efforts to increase the academic preparation of newly enrolling students, and will support CSU goals to eliminate equity gaps while creating positive and inclusive experiences.
The 23-campus California State University has one of the most diverse student bodies in the United States. Each CSU campus has its own distinct identity, yet all share the same mission: to give students access to possibility that leads to personal and societal transformation and creates lasting impact for California. The CSU draws its students from the top third of the state’s high school graduates, enrolls over 60,000 new transfer students annually, and educates an extremely ethnically, economically, and academically diverse group of students. The CSU provides more than half of all undergraduate degrees granted to California’s Hispanic, African American, and Native American students combined and nearly one-third of CSU students are the first in their families to attend college.
