BALL STATE UNIVERSITY
PROVOST & EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT FOR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
Ball State University seeks an exceptional, transformational academic leader and administrator to serve as the University’s next Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Reporting directly to President Geoffrey S. Mearns, the next Provost will have the opportunity to advance a unified vision for the University’s future and join a high-performing executive leadership team as Ball State continues to implement its Destination 2040 strategic plan.
Located in Muncie, Indiana, Ball State University serves approximately 20,000 graduate and undergraduate students across seven academic colleges with 190 undergraduate programs. Ball State offers more than 140 master’s, doctoral, certificate, and specialist degrees, many of them ranking among the best in the nation. Originally founded to fill a need for more and better teachers, Ball State has earned a Community Engagement Classification from the Carnegie Foundation, and it serves as one of Indiana’s public research institutions while remaining committed to graduating scholars who are leaders in their professions and communities.
Inclusive excellence is an integral part of Ball State’s mission and strategic plan. As the University recruits and develops diverse leaders, faculty, staff, and students, it strives to ensure that its students are prepared to engage and succeed in increasingly diverse environments. Ball State is and will continue to be recognized for its positive climate—one in which all stakeholders know that their contributions are essential to the University’s success.
As Ball State University’s chief academic officer and second ranking officer, the Provost is responsible for overseeing Academic Affairs at the University, including the R. Wayne Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning, Miller College of Business, College of Communication, Information, and Media, College of Fine Arts, College of Health, College of Sciences and Humanities, and Teachers College.
The next Provost will provide institutional leadership and stewardship, supporting and advocating for faculty, staff, and student success. The Provost will play a pivotal role partnering with the deans and colleges as they transition fully to a decentralized, incentive-based budget model that aligns financial resources with strategic institutional priorities.
