JOB SUMMARY:

Serves as the Business Officer for the Experiment Station and the Office of the Associate Dean for Research. Provides budget monitoring and fiscal reporting for all research funds, including state, federal, sponsored and revenue sources. Supervises the post-award office for the college. Prepares financial analyses and statistical reports. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

30% – Essential – Financial Planning: Provides budget monitoring and fiscal reporting for all research funds, including state, federal, sponsored and revenue sources. Prepares financial analyses and statistical reports. Provides assistance on financial matters linked to research activities. Manages research expenditure projections and tracking.

25% – Essential – Budget Management: Manages and assists with preparation of budgets for research funds college-wide. Prepares financial analyses and statistical reports to assist with decision-making in the college. Provides oversight of forecasting and tracking of salary lapse on budgeted salary funds for principal investigators per the CAFLS lapse salary policy.

25% – Essential – Supervision: Directly supervises four post-award grant accountants, which includes their trainings and evaluations. Works closely with six REC accountants and five departmental accountants to provide them guidance on process and ensure compliance. Maintains good communication with all involved in research planning and research activities in CAFLS.

10% – Essential – Project Management: Manages special projects for the associate dean for research/director of the Experiment Station and the associate director of the Experiment Station. Prepares reports for the associate dean for research and the dean of CAFLS related to cost-sharing, audit documentation, direct and indirect cost related analysis, and others.

10% – Essential – Budget Revisions, Indirects and Start-ups: Provides oversight for budget revisions and the distribution of indirect incentives based on the CAFLS Incentive Return policy. Sets up and manages research start-up accounts for new faculty hires.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education – Bachelor’s Degree – Accounting, finance, business or related field

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education – Master’s Degree – Accounting, finance, business or related field

Manages Work of Others – Manages work of others including hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff. Plans organizational structure and job content.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides Budget Input – Provides input into the budgeting process, and oversees fund allocation.

Standard Hours: 37.5; Expected Salary Range ($85,000 to $105,000)
