JOB SUMMARY:

The project will expand the rosaceae, citrus, vaccinium and pulse crop databases to meet community demand for resources with usable big data aggregated, analyzed, integrated, and visualized, as well as data management and analysis tools. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

40% – Essential – Curate genomic, genetic, and breeding data (check the necessary metadata, standardize the names, associate with ontologies, enter into data template, and upload to Rosaceae database).

20% – Essential – Provide scientists/breeders with personalized training for field data collection software, big data management and analysis, and use of database resources.

15% – Essential – Organize and manage large datasets, ensuring that they’re properly annotated, and easily accessible to researchers; quantify impact of databases on genomics-assisted breeding.

15% – Essential – Create outreach and training materials; provide webinars and on-site training on how to use Rosaceae crop community database, the breeding information management system (BIMS), breeding data management tools; and be responsible for mass communications to database users.

10% – Essential – Help organize and participate in workshops at conferences. Participate in preparation of scholarly publications.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education – Master’s Degree

Experience – 5+ years

License – Valid Driver’s License

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education – PhD in in plant biology or plant breeding

Experience – Research and/or scientific data management exeperience in an agricultural or related field such as plant biology or crop breeding

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

WORKING CONDITIONS:

15% – Overnight Travel

WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard Hrs: 37.5; Expected Salary Range ($ 47,300.00 – $ 60,000.00)
