JOB SUMMARY:

The College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Life Sciences (CAFLS) is looking for an Accountant/Fiscal Analyst III to fulfill the following duties:
Serve as the primary contact for post award projects for assigned departments, budget monitoring/preparation, and fiscal reporting. Monitors compliance of local, state, and federally funded sponsored projects. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

40% – Essential – Financial Planning: Provides primary assistance to Principal Investigators (PI) to successfully manage his/her sponsored research grants from set up to closeout. Communicates daily with PI’s, departmental personnel, college personnel, Grants and Contracts Administration, Grant Support Services, and the Office of Sponsored Programs. Approves grant transactions in buyWays and Concur. Resolves journal and voucher errors. Ensure project close out in a timely manner.

35% – Essential – Budget Management: Advises PI on current balances, expenditure projections, and corrections necessary for compliance. Prepares budget amendments and internal budget revisions. Set up and track cost share commitments. Prepares monthly reconciliation for all assigned projects. Reviews HR changes for employees and summer salary requests for faculty to be paid from grant funds to unsure fund availability. Monitor graduate assistant differential (GAD) payments.

15% – Essential – Compliance: Stays up to date on Federal, State, and University regulations concerning research related issues. Ensure that all transactions on sponsored projects are in compliance. Communicate with Grants and Contracts Administration involving expenditures that require sponsor approval. Process corrections for unallowed expenditures.

10% – Essential – Special Reports Preparation: Prepares special reports for department chairs, the CAFLS Business Office, faculty, sponsors, and Grants and Contracts Administration related to expenditures, audit documentation, and cost share as requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or related field and 1+ years professional experience directly related, such as accounting, auditing, finance or commercial lending.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Work Exp 3+ years
