Collection Development & Digital Resources Management Librarian

The Pennsylvania State University Libraries seeks applications and nominations for the position of Collection Development & Digital Resources Management Librarian. This is a tenure-track faculty position reporting to the Associate Director and Dean of the Harrell Health Sciences Library (HHSL). The Librarian for Collection Development & Digital Resource Management is responsible for the evaluation, promotion, and management of all library collections. This position works closely with other librarians and basic sciences and clinical faculty at the Penn State College of Medicine and the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center to support the educational, research, and patient care missions of the institution. This position provides support for the acquisition, processing, and cataloging of library materials in partnership with University Libraries Acquisitions Services and Cataloging and Metadata Services units. The Collection Development & Digital Resource Management Librarian collaborates across University Libraries to manage print and electronic resource subscriptions, negotiate joint licenses, and administer the HHSL collections budget. It provides supervision of the Collection Access and Support Services Librarian. The position provides reference services and functions as a faculty departmental liaison to the Psychiatry, Comparative Medicine, Rheumatology, and Medical Humanities Departments. Penn State Harrell Health Sciences Library: Research and Learning Commons houses a small archive for the College of Medicine that this position manages. This position requires an MLS degree from an ALA-accredited program (or equivalent); 3 years' experience as a liaison librarian providing instruction, reference, and research support; strong knowledge of print and digital information resources; proven budget management experience; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; and shows a strong commitment to diversity, equity, respect and inclusion.

Preferred qualifications include experience in a health sciences library; experience working in collection development, acquisitions and cataloging; experience supervising staff and or faculty; experience working with an archive and demonstrated experience with current technologies such as online meeting systems, ILS systems, Microsoft products and specialized library research software.

Salary is commensurate with a candidate's qualifications, education, and experience.
