The Extension Agriculture & Natural Resources (ANR) Program Unit at Washington State University (WSU) invites applications for a permanent, 12-month, full-time, tenure- track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position is headquartered at the WSU Columbia County Extension Office in Dayton and the WSU Extension office in Pomeroy, Washington and will serve as County Director and the dryland agronomy Extension Specialist for both counties. Required: Earned Master’s degree in agronomy, plant science, soil science, or other discipline directly related to the subject matter areas of this position by date of hire; Demonstrated expertise and knowledge in cropping systems and innovative farming practices; Demonstrated ability to lead as well as to participate in interdisciplinary teams; Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written, and listening skills in relating to diverse audiences, including large and small acreage producers, landowners, and managers, consumers, special interest groups, professional groups, and elected officials. As Extension County Director, engage with county government for planning and advisory purposes, serve as a non-elected county department head, build and maintain relationships with other county agencies, communicate the importance and support of all Extension programs, provide leadership for the Columbia and Garfield County Extension offices, supervise county staff, and provide leadership for operations related to fiscal and budget management and civil rights compliance.
