Community Outreach Coordinator, Talent Search

Location: Coeur d’Alene, Off Campus Location - Coordinator will work with the communities of Rathdrum, Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene. Offices for this position will be located in Coeur d’Alene.

Pay Range: $41,766 per year or higher depending on education and experience

Position Summary:

The Community Outreach Coordinator coordinates service delivery, participant recruitment, community outreach efforts, and implements evaluation strategies for the Talent Search North Idaho project. TRIO Talent Search provides services to assist underserved populations in completing secondary schooling, enrolling in, and succeeding in programs of post-secondary education. Major responsibilities include providing services to target community; providing information on post-secondary and career choice options; providing academic and financial aid assistance to eligible participants wishing to pursue a program of postsecondary education; and documenting and evaluating project services. Specific to this position This position is one of 3 outreach staff serving 3 middle schools, 2 High Schools and 3 Alternative High Schools in Post Falls, Rathdrum and Coeur d'Alene. TS serves 714 students per year. The Community Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting, serving, and tracking students at the assigned target schools. This position works with students in both individual and group settings, providing them with services to increase the potential to complete a Baccalaureate degree.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, or Human Services field or, Bachelor’s degree in any field with experience in education.

• Student service delivery; planning and coordinating educational activities and travel; teaching, supervising, or counseling non-traditional, under-represented students.

• Curriculum development and evaluation.

• Providing instruction and services to K–12 and/or college age students.

• Supervising minors under moderate to high-risk circumstances.

• College admission process, including financial aid and scholarships.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in:

• TRIO programs and/or similar programs; planning and coordinating educational activities; teaching, supervising, or counseling non-traditional, under-represented students.

• Interpreting issues/factors relating to the mission of the organization including the socio-economic complexity and educational and cultural characteristics of the population served.

• Risk management as it relates to college going processes and procedures.

• Implementing major program planning and coordination.

• Developing professional, productive relationships across a community in order to provide services.

• Working in a team environment to accomplish shared goals.
