The Construction and Operations Management (COM) department at South Dakota State University seeks applications for temporary, non-tenure track, part-time online teaching positions at the Instructor level in our A.S. in Construction Technology program and our B.S. in Construction Management program. Opportunities are available to teach one or two courses per semester, contingent on enrollment. Positions are available to begin in the 2020-2021 academic year and beyond. Faculty teaching in college/university construction, applied management, technology, or similar programs are especially encouraged to apply as your instructional experience, familiarity with outcomes assessment, and knowledge of online course delivery are valued. Construction and Operations faculty report to the department head of Construction and Operations Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching one to three credit online courses in one or more of the following topics: building methods and materials, cost estimating, plans and specifications, construction project management, mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems, industrial safety, introductory CAD/design, data analysis and management tools (Excel spreadsheets, Adobe PDFs, etc.), construction contracts, and special topics.
· Master’s degree in a field related to construction or applied technology.
· Effective written and oral communication skills; and effective interpersonal skills.
· Sponsorship is not available for this position; must be eligible to work in the United States.
· Evidence of online teaching experience at the post-secondary level; and
· Construction industry experience.
SALARY: $3,929 for a 3-credit course (1&2 credit course salary is prorated)

The Construction and Operations Management Department is one of five departments in the Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering serving 1,600 undergraduate and graduate students. The COM Department serves 350 students in its undergraduate programs, which include Construction Management, Construction Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, and Operations Management plus graduate programs in Operations Management and Engineering.
