About This Role:

The Director of Diversity and Multicultural Student Life (DMSL) will promote student engagement and provide academic and social integration opportunities for students of color and marginalized communities. The DMSL Director will provide direct support to multicultural student organizations, and the various leadership councils for Multicultural Students Organization's (MSO's) and identity groups. The Director will work closely with the Associate Vice President for Student Life/DMSA in the development, implementation, and operation of the Multicultural Student Center.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Requires a bachelor's degree and five to 10 years of relevant experience, including supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree

• Demonstrated ability and commitment to engage, retain, and develop students

• Demonstrated understanding of effective strategies to promote student success

• Demonstrated knowledge of best practices related to diversity, multiculturalism/interculturalism, and social justice

• Successful experience in advising and working with diverse student populations

• Experience directing and leading strategic efforts and intervention strategies for targeted student populations

• Demonstrated good judgment, discretion, and awareness of and sensitivity to the interests and concerns of first generation and marginalized populations

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders such as students, faculty, staff, administration, and community partners

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with quickly changing and highly responsive priorities

• Previous experience in program development and event planning

• Ability to set priorities and organize tasks, documents, reports, and materials effectively

• Proficiency in creating reports and presenting findings

• A proven service orientation

• Ability to maintain confidentiality

• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

• Experience working with computerized systems

Other Requirements:
