South Dakota State University Division of Research and Economic Development seeks a visionary Director of Sponsorship Development to lead administration and development of sponsorships. The Director assures success in the university’s sponsored activities and assists the Vice-President for Research and Economic Development in leading and growing research, scholarship, and creative activity. We are looking for a professional leader who is committed to excellence, creativity, diversity, integrity, and is people centered. This is a 12 month, full-time, benefit-eligible position. This position reports to the Vice-President for Research and Economic Development as part of a dynamic team of leaders.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

· Leading, facilitating, and continuously improving activities that support growing sponsorships including the following:
o Efficient routing, approvals, and submissions of grant and contract proposals and associated record keeping;
o Responsiveness to sponsoring agencies as the Authorized Organizational Representative;
o Success in limited submission competitions by ensuring timely and strategic recruitment and selections for the institution’s submissions;
o University level development of grant and contract competitiveness;
o Negotiation, review, and execution of sponsorship agreements and related agreements, modifications, amendments, and extensions;
o Documentation, interpretation, and reporting of performance in external sponsorships; and
o Representation of the university as an excellent, responsive, and preferred sponsorship partner; and
· Collaborate and coordinate with vision the following:
o University-level pre-award preparation and support;
o Assuring application of and compliance with policies and regulations as applicable;
o Assuring performance of sponsorship and related agreements and advising project directors/principal investigators on reporting and management;
o Diverse functions with other offices for post-award grants administration, technology transfer, human resources, and other units as applicable; and
o Internal competitions and selections.
