The University of Missouri is developing a comprehensive approach toward expanding its impact on community economic development needs throughout the state.  This effort is being led by MU Extension, in partnership with the College of Engineering; the College of Business; the Division of Applied Social Sciences; and the Truman School for Public Policy.  Development of the community economic growth approach is being advised by a number of statewide stakeholders, experts, and agencies.

This position serves as the Senior Coordinator for Business & Communities Extension, responsible for ensuring successful organizational planning, development, and growth opportunities. The Sr. Coordinator is integral in coordinating development, delivery, and improvement across the state, working with state faculty from partner colleges, Extension, and Missouri government officials, as well as faculty and associates headquartered in counties across the state.


  • Responsible for working with faculty, staff, and graduate students in planning and coordination all aspects of MU Extension’s B&C program including, daily operations, marketing, recruitment, staff training and facilitating coordination of efforts on specific projects.
  • Work with MU Extension’s B&C team and Advisory Council and committees to expand the economic growth initiative throughout the state
  • Work with MU Extension’s B&C team and Advisory Council to develop and implement long-term resource development.
  • Coordinate and analyze needs assessments to determine new program viability.
  • Coordinate and supervise the implementation of diverse education programs and services.
  • Develop and maintain professional working relationships and partnerships.
  • Establish and cultivate partnerships with organizations and institutions.
  • Represent MU’s Business & Communities initiative in appropriate administrative planning and support overall MU Extension program delivery.
  • The Senior Coordinator guides planning, implementation, and analysis of overall operations and policies and procedures, establishing departmental objectives and marketing plans and resource management, as well as prepare and analyze internal and external reports.
  • Conduct all activities in accordance with the Civil Rights Acts, Title IX, Rehabilitation, Americans with Disabilities Act and local, state and region affirmative action plans.
  • As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected to support the mission and purpose of MU Extension.


Administrative supervision is received from the Director of Business & Communities Extension, in collaboration with Extension Educational directors leading the Business Development, Community Development and Workforce Development teams. Administrative and functional supervision is exercised over MU Business and Communities Program support associates.

Salary Range: $47,476.00 - $65,468.00 per year

Grade: GGS-010

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

A master's degree in education or designated field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities are documented.

Working knowledge and experience in volunteer management and Advisory Council development and Advisory Council engagement.

Knowledge and experience in program management and program delivery to non-traditional students.

Experience with coordination / leadership in education and volunteer development. 

An awareness/knowledge of community health in diverse contexts.
