Extension Program Manager, Community and Economic Development

This position supports UNH Cooperative Extension’s statewide community and economic development-focused education and outreach programs. The Community and Economic Development Program Manager is responsible for supporting educational programs and outreach activities associated with the Community and Economic Development program area. Job functions include coordinating the Community and Economic Development (CED) Program Team’s impact data collection and aggregation, communication with community stakeholders and program participants through newsletters and other publications, support for developing and implementing core programs, and coordination of statewide programmatic activities and resources. Specific areas of focus include economic and business development, downtown revitalization, tourism, nature economy, and community leadership. This position is located in Durham, N.H., with statewide responsibilities.


Programming and Engagement

· Assist in the development and delivery of educational programs for diverse audiences related to community and economic development through workshops, presentations, written materials, and digital media.

· Help coordinate and develop content for community-based programs, academies, and workshops as they are developed/implemented.

· Work with, train, and teach community leaders to facilitate community dialogue and engage stakeholders in identifying and implementing strategies and actions to enhance community vitality.

· Assist with the generation of external funding proposals to support community and economic development program priorities.

· Work with UNH students and student clubs to link community development work with their educational experience; schedule work, train and supervise student interns; schedule work, train and supervise volunteers through Community Development programs.

Communications and Information Management

· Coordinate the collection of Community and Economic Development program impact data and communicate impacts to program leader, as well as internal stakeholders and external audiences through info briefs, grant reports, etc.

· Develop, design, write and edit marketing materials such as brochures, reports, blogs and other educational materials for publication and distribution.

· Work with spreadsheets, databases, website design, social media, GIS and Collector, survey design, video conferencing and basic multimedia production.

Professional development, committee work, and additional duties

· Identify individual professional development goals and seek training in subject area of expertise.

· Participate in team meetings and perform related duties as assigned.

· Serve on Extension and/or University of New Hampshire Committees or work groups.


· Bachelor’s degree in community development, urban/regional planning, community/resource economics, business, sociology, or a related field

· Two years of experience supporting the development and delivery of educational programs and outreach activities in the community and economic development field or related areas

· Comprehensive familiarity with software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Drupal, social media, GIS, Zoom

· Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills

· Administrative and organizational skills

· Ability to work effectively with staff and the public

· Valid N.H. driver’s license or other effective personal transportation means

· The ability to be flexible with work schedule to work occasional weekends and evenings for program-related events and meetings


· Experience in data management and analysis

· Experience in delivering teaching and training to diverse audiences

· Experience developing and managing volunteers

· Experience in marketing/social media outreach

· Experience writing grant proposals
