This full-time position is responsible to perform varied assistance for the Human Environmental Sciences, Family Nutrition Education program, including the Missouri Council for Activity & Nutrition (MOCAN). Duties include event coordinating; supporting MOCAN work group efforts; developing, implementing, and evaluating Policy, Systems, and Environmental (PSE) change efforts; and fiscal support.

Human Environmental Sciences Extension promotes optimal well-being of individuals, families and communities, with special recognition for the needs of vulnerable populations. HES Extension offers a variety of educational programs throughout the state, including the Family Nutrition Education Program for individuals and families.


Responsible for providing support for MOCAN, including participating in workgroup meetings to provide technical and administrative support. Interact with the MOCAN Coordinator and Steering Committee and other decision-makers to facilitate implementation of the MOCAN mission, vision, and strategic plan; and to facilitate communications. Assist with the development and tracking of progress on work plans and resource materials needed. Assist in developing and conducting presentations. Coordinate awards offered through MOCAN. Assist in the development and initiation of agendas for meetings and conferences, including speaker arrangements. Assist with the development of funding proposals.

Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of Policy, Systems, and Environmental change efforts. Develop topic area expertise in designated area(s). Assist with coordination of PSE-related advisory groups (e.g., Seasonal and Simple). Assist with the coordination of PSE training for faculty.

Conduct all activities in accordance with the Civil Rights Acts, Title IX, Rehabilitation, Americans with Disabilities Act and local, state and region affirmative action plans.

As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected in order to support the mission and purpose of MU Extension.

This position reports to the Family Nutrition Education Assistant Coordinator.


A bachelor's degree or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.


Content area expertise in nutrition, health, or physically activity; particularly as it relates to policy, systems, and environmental changes.

Two years of experience in the field in which the position is working is required.

Experience with leading and coordinating project support.

Ability to collaborate with a variety of individuals throughout the state, effectively problem-solves and makes decisions to ensure the success of assigned projects.

Operate with minimal guidance, and be a self-directed learner who is flexible and adaptable to changing environments.
