Title: Extension Specialist II - Project/Program Manager – Communications

Location: School of Agriculture, Fisheries and Human Sciences (SAFHS)

Appointment: Twelve Month

Qualifications: A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree is highly preferred. Degree should be from an accredited institution in mass communications, journalism, marketing or public relations, plus a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience, including three years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Successful candidate must be proficient using appropriate hardware and software to perform all job tasks as outlined in the responsibilities. Must have the ability to speak and write clearly and communicate ideas successfully.

Responsibilities: The project/program manager will:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the SAFHS communications department including supervising staff, planning, resource allocation and project management, while working closely with the dean/director of SAFHS, to determine priorities and deliverables for the department.
  • Provide the vision and direction for SAFHS digital content. This includes the planning and production of creative online and social media content such as videos and podcasts. The successful candidate must be able to shoot video using a professional quality video camera and edit video using industry standard, non-linear editing software. The candidate must also be capable of taking professional digital photographs.
  • Experience in the field of communications in the agricultural sciences is preferred. S/he must be able to multi-task and work on several jobs at a time, often under tight deadlines, and be able to problem solve as necessary toward successful job completion. The successful candidate must have a reliable vehicle. Some evening and weekend work and/or overnight travel may be required. Candidates called in for interview must provide a video portfolio.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
