About This Role:

A Postdoctoral Researcher is needed for large research projects in phsychoneuroimmunology and precision animal management. The appointee will manage dual-purpose research involving economically important animals (e.g. pigs) and biomedical research. The position requires co-mentoring and managing students and technicians. In addition, a will need to have a strong aptitude for data and analyses that incorporate applied ethological, immunological, and health measures.

Incumbent will plan experimental protocols, manage graduate research assistants for acquiring supplies and preparation of laboratory, and conduct pig projects that have at least 2-years of funding.

This position has an emphasis for competent data management, analyzation, and visualization. In addition, preparation and presentation of quarterly reports, abstracts, and scientific, peer reviewed manuscript drafting are required.

The incumbent will assist in managing funds (accounting, procurement, and inventory) and acquiring more funds (proposal writing).

This is a high-level leadership position; the incumbent will need to effectively manage and mentor students, interns, and technicians.

This position also requires assistance in coordination and leading cross-disciplinary groups in academia, federal, and industry partners. This will require aptitude for conferencing software and securely sharing data and documents.

There will be opportunities to improve instruction and teaching skillsets through K-State teaching resources. The incumbent will further develop several teaching modalities for formal and instruction and mentoring.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate, in animal sciences, large animal biotechnology, or precision animal farming technology and data management

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with large animal research or veterinary medicine research

• Demonstrated management of large research projects

• A strong interest in applied ethology and behavioral measures

• Experience with team-research with collaborators across diverse fields

• Analytical experience with neuronal or immune cell culture, PCR, immunohistochemistry, flow-cytometry, mass spectrometer, HPLC, gel electrophoresis, or protein purification

• Proficiency in Microsoft programs and managing large data sets

• Experience with machine learning, data mining software, and statistical analyses

• Capable of leading, co-mentoring, and managing technicians, and graduate- and undergraduate-students,

• Peer-reviewed scientific publications in accredited journals

Other Requirements:

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment. The sponsor will have funds available to cover H1-B visa expenses.
