About This Role:

The 1DATA Consortium at K-State Olathe is seek applications for a postdoctoral scholar in the area of data science at 100% time. We are looking for researchers whose interests are in data science in human and veterinary medicine data and a researcher with a methodological and application focus. The fellows will be requested the opportunity to pursue the 1DATA research in an intellectually vibrant environment with ample mentorship.

We are looking for independent researchers who will help conduct research in machine learning to extract and clean data from different resources, build, and be an integral part of our 1DATA program. The incumbent to these positions would be responsible for the initial configuration and implementation of an API for 1DrugAssist Platform. This is envisioned as a multipurpose platform that will integrate and analyze disparate sources of adverse drug events, safe withdrawal intervals of drugs and chemicals in companion and food-producing animals using 1DATA tools (www.1DATA.life) to analyze the data.

Responsibilities include:

• Apply data science and machine learning for pharamcovigilance of the FDA Adverse Events Database.

• Extract and curate data from multiple sources including FDA, DrugBank, Kegg, MedDRA, and ATC databases.

• This work will also include the potential use of models to guide experimental/clinical trial design and for hypothesis testing as both research labs are part of animal and analytical chemistry support teams.

This position is full-time, exempt, and benefits eligible.

Preferred Education and Qualifications:

Applicants must be outstanding, intellectually curious researchers at an early stage of their scholarly career. Applicants should have demonstrated a capacity for independent work and will be expected to engage with researchers and faculty and participate in activities convened by our Initiative. The successful candidate will have earned a doctoral degree in a field such as data science, biomedical sciences, statistics and mathematics, computer science, or engineering. The data science postdoc scholar will provide evidence in terms of teaching or research experience in at least one of the following core areas:

• Research design and data analysis in applied statistics and mathematics

• Data engineering, storage, and retrieval

• Visualizing and communicating data

• Applied machine learning

• Large-scale data mining and analysis

• Applied regression and time series analysis

• Familiarity with animal and human data structures would be beneficial

Other Requirements:

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
