The University of Georgia is currently seeking applications for the position of Director of the Workforce Planning & Recruitment. This position will report directly to the Senior Director for Human Resources Strategic Management. The Workforce Planning and Recruitment unit is responsible for managing positions across the university. This unit assists departments in creating new positions, hiring staff to fill those positions, reorganizing staff and positions when departments face changes.
The Director will frequently communicate with senior leaders, internal and external constituent groups to coordinate the employment process and facilitate the successful recruitment of top talent to the University of Georgia. The Director will oversee the development and execution of a strategic vision focused on continuous improvement. The Director will model the group’s culture of accountability by maintaining a high standard of performance for the team.
Manage, supervise, and develop the professional activities and staff assigned to the Workforce Planning and Recruitment Unit to administer a comprehensive employment and recruitment program. Ensure the University is in compliance with the various University System of Georgia Policies, International Law, and Federal and State Employment Regulations.
Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to the administration of:
Classification: Responsible for the administration of the classification program. Continue to evaluate and re-engineer the way the classification process is managed throughout the University. Lead the organization through the classification transformation process. Lead a team to standardize the development and use of titles and positions across the University.
Recruitment: Responsible for the administration of recruitment. Lead the reorganization of the way recruitment is managed at the University including: marketing positions, centralizing advertising, organizing and managing temporary employment help, developing and managing applicant pools, guiding and advising throughout the search process and conducting and evaluating background checks. Responsible for increasing our diversity and protected class outreach programs to both meet and exceed our University diversity goals.
Employment Planning: Responsible for leading the efforts for employment growth opportunities. Organize efforts to educate employees on areas of growth within our organization based on the employee’s competencies. Partner with departments that are struggling with employee retention and develop action plans to help the department make changes to increase employee retention. Serve as consultant to departments through reorganization and position consolidation efforts to align functions, titles and people. Reevaluate and administer the classification and performance program relationship to allow HR and departments to take proactive actions on positions as they evolve over time.
Website Development: Responsible for updates and enhancements to the portion of the Human Resources’ website dedicated to the Workforce Planning and Recruitment Unit. Ensure that all related content is maintained and current. Look for ways to enhance customer service while reducing or eliminating paper processing.
Ensure that support staff is knowledgeable and have the most current information to offer employees, allowing them to make informed decisions.
Minimum Qualifications: Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field.
