Instructional Designer
The Center for Transformative Teaching (CTT) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is committed to attracting and retaining a diverse staff. As an Instructional Designer, you will support the mission of the CTT by providing teaching, course design, and related technology consultations to faculty for in-person, blended, and online learning environments. Your position will require working collaboratively with the other instructional designers on the team to implement CTT priorities, programs, and initiatives. You will have opportunities to implement evidence-based teaching strategies for successful and inclusive student learning experiences. You will also collaborate with program, college, and other University units on projects that advance teaching innovation and excellence. 

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree plus one or more years’ experience in a combination of teaching, instructional design, educational technologies, course development, or related areas. Experience working with learning management systems, and course design and development. Excellent organizational, communication, and team collaboration skills. Knowledge of learning theories, instructional design, and inclusive pedagogy.
 
In-depth understanding of and the ability to articulate instructional design, pedagogical principles, and related technology solutions to teaching and learning in face-to-face environments and/or online. Knowledge of inclusive and equitable course design, teaching practices, and learning environments. Ability to work respectfully and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to build consensus. Ability to maintain professional-level communications with a wide range of faculty, administrators, and colleagues. Ability to coordinate projects, working collaboratively with others to resolve problems. Ability effectively to write in an expository style, develop and give presentations, and communicate teaching strategies during consultations. Ability to design and deliver face-to-face and online workshops on a wide variety of current and/or innovative pedagogic topics. Ability to identify the needs and requirements of schools, colleges, and departments for workshops and other professional development activities. Ability to objectively evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of instructional materials and to communicate this evaluation to others. Ability to complete multiple assignments in accordance with established priorities and time schedules. Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with faculty, supervisor, content experts, team members, and co-workers. Ability to work harmoniously and productively in a team environment. Ability to proactively develop and maintain faculty and client relationships. Ability to represent effectively the CTT in various professional contexts. Solid knowledge of learning theory, teaching methodology, and curriculum development. Advanced skills with University-supported teaching technologies, such as the LMS. Ability to design and coordinate complex projects, establish timelines, assign tasks, solve conflicts, coordinate small and large working teams, follow budget and resource guidelines.

Preferred qualifications: The ideal candidate may have a Master’s degree. Two or more years’ experience in a combination of teaching, instructional design, educational technologies, course development, or related areas. Experience within a post-secondary environment. Successful experience with project management, multimedia development, and development in Canvas LMS. Knowledge of one or more specialist pedagogies or Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). Proficient in using communication and presentation technologies such as Zoom, PowerPoint, lecture capturing software, etc. Knowledge of one or more specialist pedagogies or Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).
