About This Role:
Provides robust leadership and management of the student services unit within the department. Items to be performed include:
• Provide supervision and direction to the office’s financial aid advisors in conducting proactive campaigns designed to engage students in the completion of time sensitive student aid processing objectives. Utilization of available technology is necessary to provide service in an efficient manner.
• Be forward-thinking to guide student services staff to complete typical annual processing tasks
• Serve as office liaison with campus partners and departments in coordinating and scheduling student aid outreach and speaking events.
• Manages incoming communications to office (ie. emails and phone calls) and provides direction to student services staff to mitigate high demand time periods.
• Coordinate with packaging/fiscal staff member to have an awareness of available funds so that advising staff can assist students in financial crisis.
Manages all aspects of the office’s administration of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) to ensure compliance with federal regulations. Tasks include:
• Runs system processes which calculate SAP at the end of each semester
• Executes system SAP queries and reviews output of same after SAP has been calculated
• Communicates calculated SAP statuses to students in accordance with regulatory requirements as well as in keeping with best student service practices. Communications extend also to the academic advising community and other integral units that support the students’ academic progress.
• Utilizes independent, professional judgment when reviewing SAP appeals submitted by students to determine possible next steps in a student’s aid eligibility. Updates the student information system accordingly and ensures all documentation is included in the student’s imaging file. Incumbent executes and responds to all required communications associated with the appeal process.
Contributes to the development and testing of system functionality, ensuring compliance with federal student aid regulations and to increase office productivity and efficiency. Items include:
• Setup system functionality and test enhancement requests, such as the annual updates to the Net Price Calculator, the College Financing Plan, and other items.
• Assist with the development of reports and processes by gathering requirements and drafting specifications to share with IT staff.
• Provide functional training to office staff and/or other campus partners after new functionality is implemented along with creating documentation or other training materials.
• Represent the office by contributing to IT project meetings.
Collaborate with other Student Financial Assistance leadership to ensure regulatory compliance and delivery of consumer information to students. Tasks include:
• Review regulations to ensure all aspects are covered by working with office leadership and other stakeholders.
• Update and maintain the office’s published disclosure information.
• Ensures consumer information is sent to students in accordance with required timelines.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Three to five years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• 2-3 years of supervisory experience
• Experience in providing presentations and/or conducting training
• Experience in researching and interpreting regulations and compliance related topics
• Prior work experience in a customer service profession
• Complex, analytical thinking
• Ability to create specifications for system development and test results
Other Requirements:
