About This Role:
Housing and Dining Services seeks qualified applicants for the position of Maintenance Supervisor Senior – Jardine Apartments, to lead, plan, and direct maintenance operations related to a large on-campus apartment community and other facilities. Duties include coordinating work activities with other trades, planning and managing projects. Regular work hours are 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. This position reports to the Assistant Director, Facilities Management.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Supervise maintenance operations for the https://housing.k-state.edu/living-options/apartments/, https://housing.k-state.edu/living-options/honors-house/, and on and off-campus departmental https://housing.k-state.edu/conferences-events/guest-housing/guest/.
• Assign and coordinate work projects
• Supervise, hire, train, coach, counsel, evaluat staff.
• Develop and maintain a team of motivated, engaged staff.
• Interact effectively with staff to build rapport and instill a strong sense of customer service.
• Serve as a “working supervisor” by leading and assisting employees in maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing heating and cooling systems; steam lines; electrical systems; water and sewer systems; water treatments; metal doors, windows, building hardware and asbestos removal (if certified).
• Manage maintenance and construction work projects, building maintenance repairs, apartment remodels, daily work order requests. Determine work priorities and coordinate with departmental work groups and outside contractors as needed.
• Develop, plan and monitor overall maintenance of facilities and equipment to ensure safety and quality expectations.
• Inspect buildings and equipment; recommend major repairs; review and recommend changes in operational procedures; plan work projects; prepare estimates of labor and material costs; maintain accurate records, assist with long range repair and replacement programs.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:
Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma and five to 10 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Supervisory experience
• Prefer knowledge of building and safety codes
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
• Strong knowledge of building/mechanical trades
• Prefer experience in a university/institutional work environment
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety regulations and guidelines
• Experience scheduling projects using critical path method (CPM)
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing

Other Requirements:

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
• Valid drivers license upon employment.
• Completion of KSU Pillars of Leadership training within six months of appointment.
