About This Role:

The Kansas Institute for Early Childhood Education and Research (KIECER) and Kansas Child Care Training Opportunities (KCCTO) teams, within the College of Health and Human Sciences, are looking to hire a Research Manager who will work on a statewide project in the area of childcare and early education. This position will join a cadre of staff and have responsibility for project activities related to the development of data systems, liaising with data system computer programmers, and the collection and analysis of needs assessments, surveys, and satisfaction data. Additional responsibilities include the development of, contribution to, and dissemination of materials specific to evidence-based practices in childcare and early education. This position will report to the KIECER Director.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee and coordinate the development of programmatic evaluations, logic models, environmental scans, needs assessments, etc.

• Provide leadership in research design and modification of projects

• Conduct relevant literature reviews and searches

• Use quantitative and qualitative designs with an emphasis in at least one area

• Summarize, analyze, and synthesize all project data

• Coordinate with the director on the implementation of data collection protocols and/or surveys

• Supervise data collection

• Collaborate with project coordinators on data collection and evaluation

• Prepare presentations and publications for clients, refereed publications, and regional and national conferences

• Supervise and support undergraduate and graduate students, research assistants, and data managers/administrative assistants

• Develop data management systems, project databases, and reporting systems

The expertise of individuals may be in the area of early care and education of young children; instructional technology/computer sciences balanced with knowledge and expertise in data collection, data synthesis, and analysis; and reporting of complex data sets.

Travel may be required as it relates to attendance at educational events for personal skill and professional development. Staff may also be required to attend meetings to represent the project.

The Kansas Institute for Early Childhood Education and Research (KIECER) is a partnership between the Division for Student Life and the College of Health and Human Sciences. The Institute is housed in the Department of Applied Human Sciences at Kansas State University. The mission of KIECER is to elevate and influence practice, an equitable workforce, and family systems through collaborative efforts to advance the science of early childhood education and development. The work of the Institute falls within three main areas: workforce development, research and outreach, and engagement.

The College of Health and Human Sciences is home to six academic departments (Applied Human Sciences; Food, Nutrition, Dietetics & Health, Hospitality Management; Interior Design and Fashion Studies; Personal Financial Planning; and Kinesiology), the Center on Aging, and the Physician Assistant Program. In addition, the college serves as a satellite location for the WSU nursing program. What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

• Doctorate degree

• Three to five years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Doctorate degree in child development, early childhood, psychology, or a related field

• Three years of research-related experience

• Three to five years of experience with database software (i.e., spreadsheets/Excel, SPSS)

• Five years of experience with data graphing software (i.e., line graphs, bar graphs, pie charts)

• Three to five years of management/supervisory experience

• Familiarity with early childhood settings

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

$75,000 – $90,000
