Vice President for Research
Kennesaw State University (KSU) invites inquiries, nominations, and applications in their search for a strategic executive leader to serve as the next Vice President for Research. Located on suburban campuses in northwest metro Atlanta, KSU is a member of the University System of Georgia and the third largest university in the state. A comprehensive university with 12 colleges and a leader in innovative teaching, scholarship, and learning, KSU enrolls over 43,000 students in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degree programs. The Vice President for Research is expected to assume office on July 1, 2023.
Reporting to the President and serving as a member of the President’s Cabinet, the Vice President for Research (VPR) is a 12-month administrative faculty position that provides executive oversight and strategic vision for research, service, and creative activities of the University’s faculty, staff, and other research investigators. The VPR is directly responsible for the direction of all operations of the University’s Office of Research, leading all research endeavors within the University, and also serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the Kennesaw State University Research and Service Foundation (KSURSF).
The Vice President for Research oversees a staff of roughly 45 individuals, in Research Operations and Communications, Sponsored Projects, Research Compliance, as well as Economic Development and Community Engagement, and Commercialization. Additionally, the VPR guides the Office of Undergraduate Research as well as post-doctoral training and development. The Vice President for Research will be charged with advancing research growth at KSU, especially through supporting an increase in external funding, and will play a critical role in continuing to strengthen KSU’s diverse and inclusive research community.
