Oregon State University College of Agricultural Sciences and the Division of Extension and Engagement invite applications for an Assistant Professor of Practice position. This is a full-time, 12-month, fixed-term position stationed at the Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center (SOREC) in Central Point, Oregon and serves both Jackson and Josephine counties.
The academic home for this position will be in the Department of Crop and Soil Science or the Department of Animal and Rangeland Sciences in the College of Agricultural Sciences at Oregon State University (OSU) depending on expertise of candidate. The academic home must be designated within six (6) months of the start date. Reappointments are at the discretion of the Regional Director, Department Head, and Program Leader.
The position focuses on general agricultural and horticultural based production systems with an emphasis on sustainable/biological methods appropriate for all agricultural producers. In addition, incumbent is expected to become knowledgeable of local, state and federal land use and agricultural regulations and to conduct educational programming for agriculture producers on these matters.
This faculty member independently develops and conducts educational programs and contributes to applied field research activities in Jackson and Josephine counties. The individual will work collaboratively with local producers, agriculture and natural resource agencies, and OSU faculty to plan, organize, deliver, and evaluate educational programs. In addition, the faculty member will provide farm-related problem-solving services. This position is specifically intended to support agricultural extension education needs in a manner that allows SOREC experiment station faculty members to focus on their research missions.

Minimum/Required Qualifications
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
