Job Description

MU TITLE: Senior Business Operations Associate

LOCATION: Columbia, Missouri with statewide coverage

The University of Missouri (MU) Office of Extension and Engagement’s distinct land-grant mission is to improve lives, communities, and economies by producing relevant, reliable, and responsive educational strategies throughout Missouri. This position is the Director of Partnership and Council Development serving the state working with Regional Directors and Extension and Engagements Specialists to enhance training materials for internal and external stakeholders on the return on investment of local Extension programming. In addition, the position will work with the Extension advancement office to enhance local philanthropy efforts. Maintains open communication with faculty and staff on local training and assistance to staff, partners, and stakeholders.

This position will require frequent travel and in person meetings and trainings. Office location may be determined at the time of hire with the expectation that the final candidate is within reasonable driving distance of the Columbia, Missouri campus for required in person meetings and events.

50% Training and Development

  • Collaborate and partner with Regional Directors and Extension and Engagement Specialists to develop new and enhance existing county council training materials.

  • Regularly assess and evaluate existing county council training opportunities and implement improvements where needed.

  • Prepare and provide training using various formats and methods including virtual and in-person.

40% Advancement

  • Work with MU Extension Advancement Office to enhance local philanthropy efforts.

  • Analyze the return on investment of local Extension programming for County Commissioners and other local stakeholders and develop reports that effectively communicate results.

10% Other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the mission and purpose of MU Extension.


This position reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for MU Extension. Functional supervision may be exercised over a small to medium sized office support staff and student assistants.

Salary commensurate with education and experience.

Salary: $50,000 – $75,000 annual

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in and understanding of the land grant mission and how Extension plays an important role in the outreach efforts of a LGU institution.

Demonstrated strong communication skills required to effectively interact and work with individuals and groups.

Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills required to problem solve and knowledge-sharing.
