About this Role:
The Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a part-time, Research Assistant. This position is to assist the principal investigator (PI) with cancer research projects and the daily activities of running a research laboratory. The research assistant is expected to manage routine laboratory activities and coordinate multiple research projects led by the PI within the research laboratory.

Duties / Responsibilities:
To assist with comparative cancer research projects by performing tissue engineering and molecular biology techniques and assays. Duties include, but are not limited to: mammalian cell culture, molecular biology assays (flow cytometry, western blot, ELISA, PCR, RNA isolation, etc.), and animal studies. Data management and analysis is also required.
To assist with administrative duties including, but not limited to, ordering and inventory of lab supplies and equipment, maintenance and repair of equipment, assurance of appropriate biosafety practices including maintaining updated SOPs and biosafety manuals, scheduling of meetings and laboratory activities, ensuring compliance of laboratory practices with university protocols.
To interface with collaborating researchers and research staff including transfer of samples, scheduling meetings, and overseeing and training visiting scholars to Springer Lab specific protocols.
