Appointment: Twenty-four month full-time temporary position with benefits (100% Research).
Qualifications: A degree (BS required, MS preferred) in fisheries, wildlife, natural resources, environmental sciences, or a closely related field. Experience with diverse types of fisheries field and lab work preferred. Arkansas Boating Safety certification (or equivalent) and experience with boats, trucks, and trailers is required.
Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direction of principal investigator, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management of field and lab components of a research project to study Asian carp movement and population dynamics in three Arkansas drainages. These duties will include using active and passive fish sampling gears to collect fish, surgical implantation of telemetry transmitters, deployment and routine maintenance of telemetry receivers, ageing of fishes, and routine maintenance of boats, sampling gears, trailers, and field and lab equipment. Computer and data management skills are required. Competency in R or SAS and ArcGIS preferred. The candidate will work closely with graduate students to achieve project objectives.
Personal Characteristics: The successful candidate will be a conscientious individual willing to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. The successful candidate will be organized, efficient, and practice good teamwork skills.
