Pay Range: $42,982 per year or higher depending on education and experience

Full/Part Time: Full Time

Position Summary:

Conduct research and serve as research project coordinator for several bird related research projects within the Idaho Cooperative Fish & Wildlife Research Unit. The position will lead all logistics associated with several sponsored projects; will organize and implement all logistics for the research projects, including hiring and training seasonal research technicians, writing and implementing field protocols for data collection, QA/QC of all data collected, data management, analyses of data, report writing, and permit renewals and compliance.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Education: MS in Wildlife Sciences, Natural Resources, Ecology, Conservation Biology, or related field and two years of related professional experience

-Experience with rail trapping methods

-Proficiency with methods for attaching radio transmitters to rails

-Experience with statistics programs

-Experience with spreadsheets, GIS software, and database management

-Experience as a supervisor

-Must posses a valid drivers’ license and be able to meet Policy requirements for driving University vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Excellent oral and written communication skills

-Demonstrated ability to work independently as a project coordinator and as part of a collaborative group

-Working and communicating with a wide variety of groups, including other researchers, agency biologists, and public stakeholders

Self-motivated with skills in time and data organization/management

-Must have ability to supervise temporary help employees in field settings

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

-Lift, carry and/or otherwise move at least 50 lbs

-Must be able to hike to remote research locations and work within harsh weather and hiking conditions such as excessive heat, humidity, bugs, and various weather types.
