Senior Associate Dean (Academic Administrator)
The https://agsci.psu.edu/https://agsci.psu.edu/ at https://psu.edu/ is seeking an outstanding individual to provide leadership and vision as Senior Associate Dean (Academic Administrator). With nationally and internationally recognized faculty, staff and students, the Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences is in the hands-on business of producing the pioneering research, cutting-edge technology, and, most of all, leaders of tomorrow to tackle these challenges head on.
Responsibilities: The Senior Associate Dean has broad duties in areas as delegated by the Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences, and acts for the Dean in these areas and in the Dean’s absence. These include overseeing the implementation of plans and academic policies in the college, such as for hiring, retention, promotion and tenure; personnel and human resources issues (e.g., performance); planning and day-to-day program implementation across the College; budgets, safety; university policy and procedures; assistance for academic, regional and support units of the college; facilities and land; and internal and external relations. The position also involves frequent interactions, on behalf of the Dean, with University Administrative Offices, with other academic colleges and campuses, and with support units of the University.
Position Requirements:
• Rank of tenured professor
• Knowledge of Colleges of Agricultural Sciences at Research I Universities, the Cooperative Extension system, and research and education centers
• Demonstrated leadership in administrative and management roles
• Excellent communication, teamwork, interpersonal, and leadership skills
• Broad experience and scholarly achievement in areas of teaching, research, and service
• Demonstrated ability to engage professionally with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students across the university and broader community
• A vision to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the community at Penn State
