The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc. (UTFI) is seeking a highly motivated professional to serve on the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA) Advancement Team in Knoxville.  Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Director of Advancement is responsible for 150 visits, $1 million dollars raised, and 15 proposals annually.

This position’s primary responsibility is to advance the UT Institute of Agriculture with a focus on the efforts of the Herbert College of Agriculture, through identifying, assessing, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift ($25,000+) prospects and annual gift donors. This includes planned giving donors. The position will be the primary point of contact for the Herbert College in setting fundraising, donor, and alumni engagement priorities. This position will work on a team of major-gift fundraisers to meet the fundraising goals of the Institute of Agriculture and the University.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree with five years or a Master’s degree with three years of experience in fundraising, development, marketing, or sales related field is required. The ability and willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationally is required. Five years of progressive fundraising experience with knowledge of agriculture and/or higher education is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required due to travel responsibilities of the position. UT Foundation reserves the right to consider all appropriate circumstances. In general, any significant driving offense less than 12 months old will eliminate the application from consideration for the position.
  • The ability to maintain strict confidentiality of donors and prospect information.
