Job Description:
Description of Duties:
The University at Albany is seeking an Associate Project Director for the Science Technology Entry Program (STEP). The purpose of STEP is to prepare historically underrepresented and /or economically disadvantaged middle school and high school students to acquire the aptitude and skills necessary to pursue post-secondary degree programs that lead to professional careers in the scientific, technical, health-related or other licensed professions. The Associate Project Director must be committed to the goals of the STEP and early career intervention conceptualization. This person will be responsible for program implementation and internal program evaluation. The Associate Project Director will also coordinate the parent activities with various community partners. Additionally, this person is responsible for maintaining STEP materials for internal and external presentations as well as all required reports and program evaluations. This person will ensure that all STEP participants are serviced and making appropriate academic progress. Additionally, the Associate Project Director will oversee the STEP offsite mentoring programs in the middle and high schools, student recruitment, and assist with the budgetary process. The Associate Project Director will also be expected to oversee the University at Albany’s Summer Institute.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree from a College or University accredited by the USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
  • Five years related experience in a field of education or education related support services.
  • Experience organizing program related initiatives.
  • Experience in advising under-represented students and culturally diverse students.
  • Strong writing, interpersonal and organization skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations.
  • Self motivated and able to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to multi-task and supervise in a fast paced and diverse environment.
  • Ability to travel between project work sites.
  • A reliable mode of transportation is required.
  • Must be able to work on Saturdays and occasional evenings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with grant writing, annual reports, or working in higher education is preferred.
  • Experience in STEM, Health, or Licensed Profession Field.

Additional Information:
Salary Range: $55-60K
