Job Description:

Description of Duties:

Under the supervision of the Director of Economic Development, at the University at Albany (UAlbany), Program Support Specialist – Innovation and Entrepreneurship will be responsible for carrying out policies and strategies around facility and space allocation, ensuring a well-functioning workplace, and in supporting member companies, and programs, events, and workshops. This position will be based at the University at Albany ETEC Incubator on the Harriman Campus in Albany, NY. Occasionally, the Coordinator may be the only staff person present at the location, and travel may be required to various incubator locations across the Capital Region.

This position has a wide variety of responsibilities and requires the ability to think broadly while implementing program elements at UAlbany and Innovate 518 Partner Incubator locations.

Responsibilities:

  • The coordinator will manage the operations of the UAlbany Innovation Center which includes coordinating business development services to its members.
  • Primary responsibilities include researching and coordinating strategies to support entrepreneurial efforts.
  • The program coordinator will be a well-organized and highly disciplined individual who will maintain and manage day-to-day operations, provide coordination and oversight of community-based programs and workshops.
  • Reporting directly to the Director of Economic Development, the coordinator will ensure that the programs support the accomplishment of educational goals and the mission of the department and the associated programs.
  • Works directly with Director and development team to manage project workflow and oversee day to day to milestones for projects.
  • Assists with the collection, organization, analysis, and/or preparation of materials in response to requests for program information and reports.
  • Provides support and collaborates in the planning, development, implementation, analysis, and reporting for all programs.
  • Maintains communications and support existing and new collaborations with campus and community stakeholders.
  • Coordinates and schedules events and programming for the college and community,
  • Other program related tasks or special projects as assigned.
  • Assist with marketing program(s) to community and professional groups to encourage and/or improve interest in the program(s)
  • Research and identify prospective new cohort members and proactively support recruitment.
  •  Manage events and workshops.
  • May occasionally need to work some evenings and weekends for events as needed.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization
  • At least two years’ experience in program coordination/management, administrative, and event management
  • Experience utilizing technology incubation programs, Microsoft Office 365, and/or Google Suite
  • Experience managing events and/or workshops
  • Experience with public speaking and/or presentations
  • Strong work ethic, highly disciplined, organized, and detail oriented
  • Experience working with diverse student, faculty, staff, and administrative populations
  • Passion for entrepreneurship and technology
  • Growth Mindset
  • Comfortable with learning new tools
  • Self-Starter
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong design skills and understanding of social media and web content management.
  • Experience with vendor selection, contract negotiation and contract management.
  • Understanding of compliance in university context.
  • Experience desired in any aspect of small business, or personally owning or operating a commercial enterprise.

Additional Information:

Salary: $55,000 – $60,000
