Associate Vice Provost for Strategic Enrollment Management

The https://twin-cities.umn.edu (UMTC) seeks applications and nominations for the role of Associate Vice Provost for Strategic Enrollment Management (AVPSEM).

For more than 150 years, UMTC has been bringing people together in new ways — fostering discoveries and making our world a better place. The flagship of the University of Minnesota System, the Twin Cities campus is Minnesota’s only land-grant university and ranked among the nation’s top public research universities, with award-winning faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, and world-class academics. For nearly 55,000 total students, UMTC’s 150 majors are offered within eight freshman-admitting and five upper-division colleges. With a focus on student success and competitive tuition rates, UMTC is ranked as a “best value” by USA Today, the Princeton Review, and Kiplinger’s Personal Finance.

UMTC is one of the only Big Ten universities within walking distance to a dynamic metropolis, and its thriving campus stretches more than 1,150 acres in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Nestled around the scenic Mississippi River, the Minneapolis campus sits under the shadow of a sparkling downtown skyline. The nearby St. Paul campus is home to rolling green space and historic architecture. For the third year in a row, UMTC welcomed a near-record size freshman class, with roughly 6,700 first-year students enrolling in fall 2023. The new AVPSEM will continue the momentum and positive trajectory in enrollment, advancing the University’s ability to enroll a curious and diverse student population from Minnesota and beyond. In executing this work, the AVPSEM will serve as the chief enrollment officer and have responsibility for all aspects of enrollment management, including undergraduate admissions and the recruitment four-year scholarship program. The UMTC Registrar will be a dual report to the AVPSEM and Associate Vice Provost of Academic Support Resources. Critical to their success, the AVPSEM will be a key partner to the colleges in achieving their goals for enrollment as well as other administrative units working on campus-wide initiatives.

UMTC remains steadfast in its commitment to inclusion, access, and removing barriers to higher education. A commitment to these values and demonstrated success in enrolling students from diverse backgrounds are essential for success in this role. In addition, the successful candidate will bring exceptional communication skills, political acumen, and the aptitude for data-informed decision making. A collaborative, transparent, and forward-thinking approach will be an important asset to establish trust and cooperative partnerships across this large, complex, and decentralized public university.

All applications, nominations and inquiries are invited. Applications should include, as two separate documents, a CV or resume and a letter of interest addressing the themes in the leadership profile found at https://www.wittkieffer.com/position/25012-associate-vice-provost-for-strategic-enrollment-management/.
