Job Description

MU TITLE:  Senior Program/Project Support Coordinator

LOCATION:   New Madrid, Missouri serving Wayne, Ripley, Stoddard, Scott, New Madrid and Mississippi Counties in the Southeast Region

MU Extension’s Health & Human Sciences program provides research based educational programs on nutrition, food safety and preservation, exercise, health, housing, parenting, senior living, and personal finance.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This full-time position is responsible for performing coordination for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention High Obesity Program (HOP) with the University of Missouri Extension. This position will work directly with local coalitions, community leaders, technical assistance providers, faculty within Health & Human Sciences Extension, and other interested parties to implement policy, system, and environmental changes related to improving healthy food access, increasing active transportation plans and policies, and improving farm to early care and education activities in accordance with HOP guidelines. This position will assist in collecting impact data and assembling reports, including press releases, peer reviewed journal articles and conference presentations. Successful candidate will be able to work independently as well as within a team, operate with minimal guidance, and be a self-directed learner who is flexible and adaptable to changing environments.

This position will be serving Wayne, Ripley, Stoddard, Scott, New Madrid, and Mississippi counties, with the possibility of the ideal candidate’s office being located in or near their county of residence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • 30% Serve as local project coordinator for the CDC HOP program, including coordinating logistics for community trainings and meetings, partner communication, and community outreach.
  • 30% Develop, advise, and lead local project implementation in collaboration with Extension Specialists, campus faculty, technical assistance providers, and community members. Assist in ensuring that HOP work is well-coordinated with other relevant MU Extension programs. Conduct community needs assessments and report findings to relevant organizations, coalitions, and community members.
  • 10% Gather impact data, analyze program outcomes and assemble reports, including press releases, peer reviewed journal articles and conference presentations.
  • 5%  Serve as a program representative at internal and external meetings, as needed.
  • 5% Professional development to stay up to date on the latest developments related to the HOP appropriate PSE initiatives.
  • 10%  Maintain and extend partnerships with program collaborators and potential collaborators.
  • 5%  Assist in managing annual program county budgets, ensure funds are spent appropriately, and invoices are submitted on time.
  • 5% Other duties as assigned.

LEADERSHIP RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Administrative supervision is received from the Assistant Extension Professor for Policy Systems, and Environmental change.  May mentor (or supervise as needed) others in completing program/project duties.

Salary

Salary Range: $51,000 – $58,000 annual

Grade: GGS-010

Shift

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Ability to travel is required to fulfill assigned responsibilities. May include working flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Content area expertise in policy, systems, and environmental change, nutrition, physical activity, or health preferred.

Candidate with a master’s degree is preferred.
