Faculty Records Data Analyst
Accurate and complete faculty information in formats that are easily accessible for data-driven decision making is crucial to achieving the University’s mission. The Faculty Records Data Analyst will be an expert on the many data elements for faculty appointments, including apportionment. The position will conduct analyses, support requests for queries, be responsible for advising on business practices to ensure good data is entered into systems, oversee the stewardship of data by monitoring and reviewing data on a routine basis, and complete required internal and external compliance reporting and ad-hoc requests. The position is housed in the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and will be an integral, strategic partner with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Analytics. Position manages the data definitions and documentation from a systems-perspective that support faculty appointments and related processes (e.g. hiring, promotion and tenure, phased retirement, etc.). The Faculty Records Data Analyst will work to develop the infrastructure and systems elements needed in source systems (i.e. SAP and Faculty Insight) to support faculty data reporting and stewardship now and into the future. Position will collaborate with the colleges and departments, Business and Finance, and Information Technology Services in the design and development of new data structures and visualization tools, as well as the implementation and training required for users. The Faculty Records Data Analyst will be a member of the UNL Data Management Team.
This position requires strong technical, hands-on skills and experience, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills. A deep understanding of operational systems, processes and metrics as well as leadership skills will allow this position to serve in a strategic advisory role, while collaborating with others to optimize university business operations.

Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree plus five (5) years’ experience working with related data, systems and processes required. Proficiency with relevant computer applications (such as Excel or cloud-based database servers) and business software (e.g. SAP, Faculty Insight, NULook, and/or other HR/financial management systems). Evidence of strong project management and coordination skills, and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and effectively as a team member. Experience maintaining confidentiality and discretion with sensitive information required. Must possess a strong service-centered philosophy. Proficient knowledge with analytics software. Proficient knowledge with statistical software. Excellent grasp of professional standards as related to high level administrative offices. Well-developed administrative and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred qualifications:

Master’s degree preferred. Familiarity with University business/human resources processes and procedures, and concerns and issues specifically related to faculty appointments. Experience using SAP preferred. Experience managing large data sets. Expert-level proficiency of computer applications such as Excel, server or cloud-based database server, SAP, and/or equivalent software. Experience with visual data reporting (Tableau preferred) and statistical software (SASSPSS, R, etc.). Expertise writing SQL queries for Microsoft SQL Server or Azure is preferred.
