About This Role: The Kansas State University Department of Modern Languages seeks a dynamic individual for a full-time position as Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish. The Department is looking for a Spanish generalist with experience or interest in teaching Peninsular and Spanish American literature and culture. Highly desirable: experience in teaching translation and/or interpreting. Responsibilities include teaching a total of seven courses over the academic year including graduate-level seminars, participating in MA committees and exams, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and contributing to departmental service initiatives. This one-year position is benefits-eligible and begins in August 2022.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ph.D. or ABD in Spanish or Hispanic Studies (literature or culture) or a related field (i.e. Comparative Literature, Translation Studies, etc.)

• Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English

• Successful candidate will value multicultural perspectives in both teaching and research

• Commitment to active research profile and service activities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. obtained by August 2022

• Expertise, professional experience or training in translation and/or interpretation preferred

• Experience teaching graduate courses

Other Requirements:

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
