Web Team Manager

Ecampus is seeking a Web Team Manager. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

Most everyone in Oregon works hard and plays hard, and that’s certainly true at Oregon State University (OSU). Oregon State is a research-intensive, public land-grant university and one of only two land-, sea-, space- and sun-grant universities in the country. We take seriously the values of economic, social, cultural, and environmental progress for the people of Oregon, the nation, and the world, and we believe in tackling challenges head-on and in partnership with others.

Oregon State Ecampus is a growing, innovative, and collaborative organization with a commitment to providing high-quality online degrees and programs. Ecampus makes OSU’s exceptional learning experiences available to students throughout Oregon and around the world – and that means something to us. In Ecampus we aim to push the boundaries of what’s possible while leaving no one behind. Our work is steeped in principles of accessibility, inclusivity, and innovation. If those are more than catchphrases to you, they mean more to us, too. We live those values in Ecampus – in how we treat each other and infused in the work we produce.

While the Ecampus crew has a blast off the clock, you won’t leave the fun at the door when you come to work. We work as a team, learning together and from one another in a high-energy, fun work environment. We love putting on talent shows, holding showcases of our work, and celebrating when a job is well done. Ecampus is known for its open-minded approach to innovation and creative work; everyone on the team has an opportunity to contribute to how our work is done. And, together we work hard to produce nationally recognized educational content that helps students grow and change their lives for the better. Sounds fun and meaningful? It is.

Ecampus has a good problem – high demand for the work we do. We’re looking for someone to help us manage the day-to-day operations involved in developing web-based applications and learning platforms. Our Web Team Manager position blends leadership and a collaborative spirit with project management and technical expertise. Are you an experienced professional willing to grow and explore? Can you lead a small team of programmers in the design and development of customized applications and platforms? Have you helped teams meet standards and timelines by providing proactive project management through evaluation of processes, efficiencies, and outcomes? We need you!

As our Web Team Manager, your work isn’t completed in a quiet office tucked away – this is a social position in which you will have the opportunity to directly engage OSU’s incredible and dedicated faculty, helping non-media folks understand what is possible, what it takes to get there, and then helping bring their vision to reality. While our projects vary across every subject, you will definitely build long-term, positive relationships born through genuine collaboration with faculty and content experts. In-house, you’ll work closely with multimedia developers, instructional designers, researchers, librarians, and more to ensure high-quality content is produced for on-time delivery.

Oregon State University and Ecampus maintain and enhance a collaborative and inclusive community that is dedicated to equity and equal opportunity. All employees of this division are responsible for ensuring that these commitments are achieved. This position directly contributes to those goals by designing learning environments that are inclusive, accessible, and follow the best practices of Universal Design for Learning.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or related field; or a Bachelor’s degree in another field with three years of professional programming development experience
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate resources, team members, and stakeholders, ability to adapt to changing priorities, plan, prioritize, and track projects that meet or exceed standards on time in a professional environment
  • Demonstrated success in working in a collaborative team environment, especially leading teams formally or informally
  • Experience with modern front-end web development frameworks (for example Angular, React/Vue, etc)
  • Experience conveying technical concepts to varied audiences (leadership, faculty, students, and other Ecampus staff) in live consultations, email, reports, etc
  • A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity
  • This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Required qualifications:

  • Project management certification (for example: PMI, CAPM, PMP) or training
  • Experience using project management software
  • Experience with agile project management methodology (scrum, Kanban)
  • Experience integrating with APIs (REST)
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services
  • Experience with designing responsive and accessible web applications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of back-end development (Serverless, Node.js etc)
  • Experience working with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB, etc.)
  • Experience with source control/version control systems (such as Git)
  • Knowledge of standards for authentication and authorization, security vulnerabilities, and remediation procedures
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Experience working in a higher education environment, specifically with faculty
  • Experience working with a diverse group of people/teams

OSU commits to inclusive excellence by advancing equity and diversity in all that we do. We are an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity employer, and particularly encourage applications from members of historically underrepresented racial/ethnic groups, women, individuals with disabilities, veterans, LGBTQ community members, and others who demonstrate the ability to help us achieve our vision of a diverse and inclusive community.
