In recognition of extraordinary community outreach, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) today named San José State University (SJSU) the winner of the 2015 C. Peter Magrath Community Engagement Scholarship Award. The Magrath Award was presented at the APLU Annual Meeting, now underway in Indianapolis, IN.

Indianapolis, IN – The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) today announced its 2016 Board of Directors. At a ceremony during the association’s 128th Annual Meeting, University of Kansas Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little became Chair of the Board, taking over for Clemson University President James P. Clements. The Board of Directors provides oversight and direction for APLU’s work and is charged with setting membership and governing policies for the association. Board members work to make public institutions of higher education more effective in delivering high quality and affordable higher education alongside cutting-edge research and robust community and economic engagement.

Indianapolis, IN –The Voluntary System of Accountability (VSA) today launched College Portraits At A Glance, a new interactive tool for users to create one-page customized snapshots of College Portrait data. The inaugural version of At A Glance features 13 modules with College Portrait data covering student admissions, enrollment, costs and financial aid, success and progress and student experiences – allowing VSA participants with published College Portraits to start using At A Glance immediately.

Indianapolis, IN – The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) today announced at its 128th Annual Meeting that it received a $4.6 million grant to support a cohort of public universities as they scale implementation of adaptive courseware across their campuses to improve student learning outcomes and accelerate degree completion. The award to APLU comes from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Indianapolis, IN – The Coalition of Urban Serving Universities (USU) and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) have partnered with the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) to develop and pilot a tool to help universities measure institutional culture and climate, with the goal of creating a more inclusive campus community that values and supports diversity. The self-assessment tool will be paired with a scorecard to provide university leaders with a visually-appealing snapshot of the institution’s progress. The California Wellness Foundation (Cal Wellness) awarded the groups a $325,000 grant over three years to support the initiative and pilot a tool at California institutions.
