Washington, DC — The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities this week joined five other presidential national higher education associations in issuing the following guidance to their member institutions that outlines suggested principles for accepting the transfer of credits, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) today called on Congress to expand emergency coronavirus relief to support the nation’s public research universities in its phase-four coronavirus relief bill. APLU worked with other national higher education associations to determine sector-wide funding levels needed to support students, colleges and universities, and research activities. In a letter sent today to House and Senate leaders, APLU provided the public research universities perspective on why those funds are needed.

Washington, DC — The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities, the Association of American Universities, Association of American Medical Colleges, and American Council on Education today called on Congress to approve $26 billion in emergency funding for the nation’s major federal research agencies to address an array of challenges due to COVID-19. In a letter sent to House and Senate leaders, the groups outlined, among other things, why funding was needed to support researchers working on projects that have been delayed due to the virus, to wind down and eventually ramp up research activities, and advance COVID-19 related research activity. The group also urged for increased regulatory flexibility related to research activities given the extraordinary circumstances research universities and others are facing.
