Washington, DC – In recognition of their extraordinary community engagement initiatives, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) today announced that four of its member universities have been selected as regional winners of the 2022 W.K. Kellogg Foundation Community Engagement Scholarship Award. As regional award winners, the University of Georgia, the University of Texas at San Antonio, the University of Vermont, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison will compete for the national C. Peter Magrath Community Engagement Scholarship Award, which will be announced at the 2022 APLU Annual Meeting in November.

Washington, DC –Lumen Learning, a leading provider of higher education teaching and learning materials focused on improving student outcomes and removing race and income as predictors of student success, today announced a partnership with The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) to effectively scale Lumen’s new Introduction to Statistics courseware to more universities across the United States. The courseware is designed for a critical gateway course with the highest dropout and failure rates among underserved and minority students. Current pilots for the program through the new partnership include Florida International University, Georgia State University, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and South Texas College

Washington, DC – The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) and Association for Institutional Research (AIR) today announced a new cohort of institutions participating in the Data Literacy Institute, which aims to help APLU member campuses better use data to increase student success. Bowling Green State University; Illinois State University; Miami University of Ohio; Tennessee State University; and the University of Maine will all participate in the institute in Fall 2022.

Washington, DC – A multi-year national project focused on increasing student belonging and academic success has culminated in a new report from the Student Experience Project (SEP) outlining tangible interventions universities and colleges can implement. The report, Increasing Equity in College Student Experience: Findings from a National Collaborative, draws on a vast data set measuring students’ self-reported sense of belonging and subsequent academic performance. The report also outlines how universities can better understand existing student experiences, address inequities in outcomes, and make changes to support the well-being, engagement, and academic outcomes of all students.
