Washington, DC – Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) President Peter McPherson today released a statement about the impending partial government shutdown that will go into place at midnight unless Congress and the White House reach an agreement.

WASHINGTON, DC— The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) and University Economic Development Association (UEDA) today announced a partnership to provide access to APLU’s Innovation and Economic Prosperity (IEP) University Program to all higher education institutions. Until now, the IEP program, which recognizes higher education institutions that make regional economic development a priority, was only available to public research universities and land-grant institutions in APLU’s membership.

Washington, DC – The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) and the Association of American Universities (AAU) hosted the inaugural University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Showcase on Capitol Hill tonight, spotlighting 21 startup companies that have created products born out of federally funded, university-based research. House Science Committee Chairman Lamar Smith, House Science Committee Ranking Member Eddie Bernice Johnson, and House Small Business Committee Chairman Steve Chabot all delivered remarks at the event.

Washington, D.C.— In recognition of their extraordinary community outreach initiatives, four member universities of the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) have been selected as regional winners of the 2017 W.K. Kellogg Foundation Community Engagement Scholarship Award. As regional winners, East Carolina University, the University of New Hampshire, Oklahoma State University, and Purdue University will represent and compete for the national C. Peter Magrath Community Engagement Scholarship Award, which will be announced during the APLU Annual Meeting November 12-14 in Washington, DC.
