Washington, DC – The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) today released a report surveying the state of campus internationalization efforts at its member institutions. Based on those survey results, the report issues recommendations on what steps APLU institutions must take to advance internationalization as they strive to maintain and enhance their place as the world’s leading universities.

Washington, DC – The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) today honored S. Suzanne Nielsen of Purdue University and Ann Marie VanDerZanden of Iowa State University as recipients of the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Excellence in College and University Teaching Awards for Food and Agricultural Sciences. Five regional and two new teacher awardees were also named recipients of the 2017 Excellence in College and University Teaching Awards for Food and Agricultural Sciences. The awards, which celebrate university faculty for their use of innovative teaching methods and service to students, were presented at the 130th APLU Annual Meeting now underway in Washington, DC.

Washington, DC – The 2018 Farm Bill must address how to feed the world’s growing population by providing ample resources for agricultural research, education and extension, said Jay Akridge, Glenn Sample Dean of Agriculture at Purdue University and Chair of APLU’s Board of Agriculture Assembly (BAA) in testimony today to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Agriculture Subcommittee on Biotechnology, Horticulture, and Research.

Austin, TX – The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU), today honored F. Bailey Norwood of Oklahoma State University and Ann D. Christy of The Ohio State University as recipients of the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Excellence in College and University Teaching Awards for Food and Agricultural Sciences. Six regional and two new teacher awardees were also named recipients of the 2016 Excellence in College and University Teaching Awards for Food and Agricultural Sciences. Washington, DC — The United States Department of Agriculture's National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), Cooperative Extension System, and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) today announced that Stephen D. Green, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, will receive the 2016 Excellence in Extension Award. Green is cited for developing programs proven to increase knowledge of best practices in child care, enhanced opportunities for early childhood professionals, and increased involvement by fathers with their children.

Las Cruces, NM -- Seeking to strengthen and formalize a partnership founded in research and extension, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) and the Mexican Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food today signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at working collaboratively to address sustainable agriculture and natural resource management.

Washington, DC -- Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) President Peter McPherson, who previously served as Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development, today released the following statement regarding House passage of the Global Food Security Act of 2016, which was previously approved in the Senate. Senators Bob Casey (D-PA) and Johnny Isakson (R-GA) introduced the bipartisan measure in the Senate and Representatives Chris Smith (R-NJ) and Betty McCollum (D-MN) introduced the measure in the House. The bill now moves to the White House for President Obama’s signature.
