Higher Education Associations Form Protect Dreamers Coalition

APLU has joined with the American Council on Education and other higher education associations to form a collective higher education advocacy effort called the Protect Dreamers Higher Education Coalition that seeks a swift legislative solution that would protect the young people enrolled in the DACA program, which the Trump administration recently announced it’s rescinding. The higher education groups created the coalition to help unify and amplify the higher education community’s efforts to advance the issue.

As part of that effort, the higher education community has designated this DACA week. The week is designed to help intensify advocacy efforts while showing Congress and the administration just how deeply the higher education community cares about these young people and wants a solution. It’s important to note that while this week is being used to intensify efforts among the higher education community, significant efforts will continue until legislation is passed.
