To recognize universities that are leaders in spurring and promoting regional economic development, APLU’s Commission on Innovation and Economic Prosperity (CICEP) created the Innovation and Economic Prosperity (IEP) Universities program.
Those interested in learning more about the IEP designation process are encouraged to join an upcoming overview webinar on April 26, 2016 at 4 – 5 p.m. EDT. Institutions that decide to pursue the designation should send a representative to the IEP Universities Workshop, which will take place as part of the 2016 CICEP Summer Meeting (July 10-13) in Chicago, IL.

Leaders from the 48 institutions that have received the designation, and the institutions which have been participating in the 2015 startup cohort, tell us that the self-study and stakeholder engagement they have undertaken as part of the application process have been tremendously helpful in: 1) shaping their universities’ assessment of existing university economic engagement efforts, and 2) planning and implementing new efforts.
More information about the program is available on the APLU website, and we will review the timeline for the 2016 startup cohort during the webinar. We hope your institution will join us for the 2016 IEP Universities startup cohort!
