APLU Council on Research Holds its Summer Meeting in Reno, NV

The APLU Council on Research (CoR) held its Summer Meeting on July 9 – 12 in Reno, Nevada.

Highlights included a visit to the University of Nevada, Reno Earthquake Engineering Laboratory and a reception in the University of Nevada, Reno Honor Court featuring remarks from President Dr. Marc Johnson. Attendees enjoyed local craft beer and learned that the university’s beautiful quad is based upon the University of Virginia’s iconic campus layout.

The meeting included sessions on Bridging the Cultural Divide: Bringing the Arts, Humanities, and Sciences Together; Matching Innovation and Capital for Growth; Value Proposition: Communicating the Outcomes and Impact of Federally-Funded Research at Public Universities to the Public; and an update on the new administration and the 115th Congress. A workshop for new and future vice presidents of research was also held in conjunction with the meeting. CoR thanks our host, Dr. Mridul Gautam, Vice President for Research and Innovation at the University of Nevada, Reno, for an informative and exciting meeting.
