During a panel at last month’s Borlaug Dialogue International Symposium, where the World Food Prize is presented, members of APLU’s Challenge of Change Commission addressed the conference on how to tackle the challenge of achieving global food and nutrition security.
APLU President Peter McPherson and commission members April Mason of Kansas State University and Kendall Lamkey of Iowa State University spoke along with special guest, Cathan Kress of The Ohio State University, on the complex problem of food and nutrition security. They addressed to the need tackle food and nutrition security with transdisciplinary efforts that bring individuals from disparate disciplines and missions together to address grand challenges.
The challenges identified in APLU’s recent Challenge of Change report are complex, intractable problems requiring interdisciplinary and convergent approaches to create solutions.
